about Althea

My life has been guided by depth: wanting to know myself fully and express who I am as honestly and wholly as I can. As a deeply feeling person, living close to my inner life feels almost like a necessity. I’ve always sensed there is more beneath the surface, both within myself and the world, and I’ve been pulled toward that “more” for as long as I can remember. My curiosity, sensitivity, and desire for authentic self-expression have shaped a path of seeking deeper communion with the mystery of life and the way it moves through me.

My path to holistic health and unshaming emerged from my personal story and challenges. For much of my life, I felt shaky in my foundational trust in myself. This showed up as people-pleasing, self-doubt, inner criticism, anxiety, and a sense of being blown around by the wind rather than guided by my own inner desires. Working through my own digestion struggles and disordered eating became a path into depth psychology and unshaming, realigning me with my core self and a deeper sense of self-trust.

Through my own journey and work with clients, I saw that struggles with digestion and self-nourishment often have roots in the psyche - patterns and subconscious dynamics that show up in the body or in our relationship with food. This realization drew me to explore how to listen to the body’s intelligence, rather than simply trying to fix symptoms.

Through David Bedrick’s work and in completing his facilitator training, I learned to engage shame through the body and imaginal/dreaming realm - following gestures, sensations, and impulses instead of staying in the analytical mind. I learned to trust the body’s wisdom, work with parts, and hold space for whatever arises without imposing an agenda. I’ve seen how shame dims one’s light and stifles expression, and also the profound reclamation that happens when people reclaim what shame has tried to silence.

In both my Expressive Unshaming and holistic nutrition work, I aim to serve not as an external authority but as a compassionate companion who honors each person’s unique healing potential. My approach supports cultivating inner wisdom, helping individuals become their own primary health advocates, and creating a loving, safe space for exploration and transformation.

I believe our journeys, with all their complexity, shape us for the roles we are meant to inhabit. The challenges and discoveries of our lives become the ground of meaning, guiding us toward purpose and deeper alignment with ourselves.

If this feels like a place you’d like to explore, I’m grateful you’re here and would be honored to support your process.
